Artist Statement:
We were so excited about creating an egg sculpture! The symbolism and meaning of an egg fit beautifully with where the 8th graders are in their lives right now, ready to break out of childhood and into young adulthood. The hand motif is such a child-like symbol, but in this case, also represents how close-knit this group of students is. The hands show that they will always support each other. The windchime in the center is intended to draw attention to the inside of the egg. A student had the brilliant idea of making the windchime piece be in the shape of a chick. Each student is represented with a piece of the chime that they created. Each of them is unique and all put together, creating something really special.
