Summer Hummer

Artist Statement:
Meet Summer Hummer — a vibrant egg that’s basically what happens when a hummingbird crashes into a rainbow and decides to stay fabulous. Covered in shimmering glass mosaic, this little beauty captures the energy of summer, the charm of our favorite nectar-nippers, and the joy of seeing something truly unexpected like a bird-themed gazing ball on an egg.

About the Artist
Bryce Remy
Bryce Remy is a passionate public artist with a unique talent for transforming community projects into meaningful works of art. His journey began with the Oshkosh Nutcrackers on the Town project, where he contributed to the creation of 50 eight-foot-tall nutcracker sculptures inspired by the Paine Art Center & Gardens’ Nutcracker event. Bryce’s dedication to art and collaboration shone through in his completion of Humanities, a project left unfinished by another artist who lost his battle with cancer. Partnering with the artist’s group, Bryce ensured the project was completed, honoring its vision with a dynamic piece featuring four arms holding different forms of art. In 2018, Bryce joined Oshkosh’s Operation: Lake Fly, creating the acrylic piece FLYing Colors, a rainbow-hued sculpture with a holographic finish that shifts in the sunlight. He returned in 2021 to design FLYing Blue Angel, a tribute to Oshkosh’s EAA Airshow, inspired by the Blue Angels fighter jets. Both pieces are permanently installed on the Oshkosh Riverwalk. Since 2021, Bryce has worked with Destination Sturgeon Bay, completing two cherry and two bass sculptures. His first cherry featured a mosaic of Leinenkugel bottlecaps shaped into Door County’s outline, while his second showcased a tiger swallowtail in hues of blue. His bass creations, Beer Battered Bass and a solar-lit freeform design with stained glass panels, highlight his innovative use of materials like bottlecaps and stained glass. Bryce’s work reflects his dedication to blending community storytelling and artistic craftsmanship, turning public art projects into lasting symbols of creativity and connection.
